, this is quite a revelation if you have the president of the united states that doesn't understand that productivity is a measure of output per person in the nation as a whole. it is not a measure of how hard people are working. >> i don't know if this is a preview of what kind of debates we'll see between these two men. i believe it was chuck todd who noted some of the business language that peppered into romney's response. what do you make of how this went with the connection issue? >> i think it gives us a window into the different strategies the campaigns are holding. on the one hand you have president obama saying, look, mitt romney has an empathy deficit. he just doesn't get what ordinary americans are facing. and you look at our nbc "wall street journal" poll, democrats, president obama have a big advantage when it come to empathy. but then in that exchange that mitt romney gave, he said president obama doesn't understand the economy. and those are going to be the competing arguments. and i think we'll hear for the next five and a half months. >> thank you so much. i greatly
